Shankar Singh
Vice President
Why did you join the team?
I joined the team as a freshman. I was just looking to get involved with the university and make friends. "Race Car" sounded pretty cool. I never imagined that I would be so involved with the team as I am now.
What is your favorite part about being on the team?
I love getting my hands dirty tinkering in the shop, especially with the lathe, it is a nice change of pace from all the book work we get in our classes.
What made you want to take your position on E-Board?
I really wanted to be involved with the recruiting process this year, and VP really suited that role. I feel like the team has gave me quite a lot, and I wanted to start giving back.
What is your favorite car?
My favorite car is the Mazda Miata. It is fun to drive at any speed on any road, it's very affordable to many and it was my first car as well.
If you could drive our race car on any track in the world, which would it be?
I’m just happy to drive the thing, I don't have any specific preference.
Why do you think FSAE is important, and what would you say to people who are interested in joining?
Engineering as a major has no purpose without a practical application. That is the role that FSAE fulfills, it translates the lessons learned in class to a meaningful application. I don't feel like I an engineering student when I walk into our shop, I feel like an engineer.
